BE AWARE OF ISSUES CAUSED BY HIGH MOISTURE IN OUR TURF…

With the increased amounts of rainfall in recent weeks, some of our lawns have seemed to yellow a bit, or look a bit marbled.  Some of this is just a matter of low light from cloudy days coupled with all of the rain, but some of this can be caused by grey leaf spot, a fungus that thrives on wet conditions and feeds on leaf blades.  In most cases this fungus has already been treated, and the green vibrant color should come back shortly.

Make sure you have a good, working, rain sensor.  There have been great advances in rain sensor technology, like wireless rain sensors.  It’s a good idea to make sure the rain sensor is located away from excessive tree cover and roof overhangs to insure that the irrigation doesn’t duplicate Mother Nature’s rain fall.

If you have any question or concerns regarding any of these or other issues in your landscape, please contact your Greenery supervisor for more details on what can be done to insure great health and aesthetic value of the landscape.
