The Greenery, Inc. – Saturday, September 14, 2013

The Greenery Inc, an employee-owned landscaping company based in the Lowcountry, was recently recognized for its commitment to keeping the Hilton Head Island beautiful, by maintaining the landscaping of various neighborhoods and commercial properties.

The Hilton Head Island Beautification Committee recently voted the entrance of Long Cove Plantation as the “most beautiful” on the island, according to an article in The Island Packet written by committee member Betsy Jukofsky. The landscape design at the entrance to Long Cove Plantation was recently updated by Wallace Milling with Witmer Keefer Jones Landscape Architecture Firm. The installation, maintenance and floral design were done by The Greenery Inc.  Following the stringent directions as to the landscape design, impact, color harmony and plant material, the committee noted that The Greenery’s use of calladiums, red pentas, durante and pink sun patiens made Long Cove’s entrance the unanimous winner, according to the article.

The Greenery has worked with Long Cove since 2009, according to Jim Vandijk, The Greenery’s Hilton Head Island Area Manager. He says The Greenery employees are treated like part of the Long Cove Community and, in turn, they take a lot of pride in keeping it beautiful. It takes a lot of working hands to make the plantation look as pristine as it does, he said.

“It’s a team effort from The Greenery. Not just one department or one individual,” Vandijk said. “This award is validation for us that all our hard work is being recognized.”

The Committee also congratulated Wexford Plaza, and other businesses that front William Hilton Parkway, for the excellent landscaping and upkeep of the property. The Greenery has managed the Wexford Plaza landscaping for more than 10 years.

As an employee-owned company, The Greenery and its staff recognize the importance of preserving and enhancing the Lowcountry’s unique and pristine coastal environment. The employees take pride in their community and have been committed for the past 40 years to caring for it as best they can.
