Find the perfect balance between work and play with The Greenery’s paid 12-week horticulture internship program on beautiful Hilton Head Island, South Carolina! Roll up your sleeves and dive into the world of landscape management alongside our experienced team, while taking advantage of the Lowcountry’s renowned attractions like world-class beaches, watersports, restaurants, and more.
 
Our interns gain valuable hands-on fieldwork and specialized training in various areas of concentration, providing a comprehensive learning experience in the diverse field of horticulture.

• Commercial Landscape – Learn the ins and outs of site preparation, installation, and maintenance techniques as you assist our crew with tasks like mowing, trimming, and planting. Safety, teamwork, and attention to detail are our priorities.
• Residential Landscape – Gain practical experience in lawn care, garden maintenance, and softscape installation. Client interactions and personalized landscape solutions are key focuses during this phase.
• Enhancements – Dive into enhancement projects, including hardscape installation, specialty feature construction, and landscape renovations. Learn about design principles, material selection, and installation techniques for various enhancements such as pathways, retaining walls, and outdoor living spaces.
• Irrigation – Gain expertise in irrigation design, installation, and maintenance, learning efficient water usage and irrigation system management through hands-on tasks like system installation, adjustment, and repair.
• Flowers – Explore the world of flowers and ornamental plants, focusing on cultivation, propagation, and maintenance. Learn about plant selection, soil preparation, and planting techniques for annuals, perennials, and seasonal flowers through practical tasks like flower bed preparation, planting, and fertilization.
• Plant Healthcare – Learn about proper chemical handling, mixing, and application techniques for fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides, emphasizing safety and environmental considerations.
• Construction – Observe large-scale landscape projects, gaining experience in grading, excavation, and site preparation. This rotation can cover the details of terrain modeling, drainage solutions, and erosion control while observing what types of equipment and materials are used during the construction phase.
• Business Development – Learn how to identify market trends, develop and maintain customer relationships, and effectively communicate the benefits of services to potential clients. Gain experience in sales strategies, pricing, negotiation, and understanding the customer’s needs, which are crucial for driving business growth.

Additional weekly rotations give you a chance to work with our internal teams including accounting, special projects, operations, human resources, administration, fleet management, and procurement. The program is designed to give our interns a comprehensive overview of how to run a business, in addition to enhancing their horticultural knowledge. You’ll also receive mentorship from our experienced crew members, gain hands-on experience, and hopefully develop a passion for horticulture and landscape management as a career choice.
